Abstract

In this research the main causes and mechanisms of collapse of bridges before landslides, mainly of rocks and soils, are reviewed. In the first section, the landslides in Mexico are contextualized; in the second, the landslides on flexible and rigid barrier structures are described; in the third, the collapse modes of some bridges studied are reviewed and discussed. Finally, a methodology is proposed to study the impact of landslides and soil on the superstructure of a bridge. The purpose of this work is to provide information to understand the impact phenomenon of rock and soil scrap over the bridges, as well as facilitate the finding of solutions in the design of bridges, in future research, and the projection of protective measures for bridges already built, near hillsides.
